about

"Cowbells & Dinosaurs"

Unsurprisingly, the Earth has been ravaged by natural disasters of all kinds. To escape the collapse, what remained of humanity took refuge in an underground city where it lived secluded for nearly five centuries. Today, at the end of this unbearable confinement, the return to the surface is thwarted by an unexpected evolution of the world: freed from mankind, the Earth let itself be colonized by previously extinct animal and plant species.

Thus begins what our wisemen call "Xenozoic age", a time of reconquest, where the rare debris of technology and culture are our only weapons against barbarism and brutality.

Among the last human tribes, the rumor runs that someone, or something, according to the versions of the story, would never have left the surface, cruising on its streams for 500 years, going from ruins to remains of our old civilizations, in order to collect the sounds of our fall and to record the voices of our noblest resistance fighters.

This shapeless and unidentified shadow has been nicknamed "Koursky" by the first generation of children born under the Xenozoic age. Is this mysterious musical sailor our savior or our gravedigger? As some say, the answer to Koursky's intentions could be found in this artifact found stranded on the coast of ancient France.

Koursky's work, made of a few scratched records, metallic bells and dinosaurs screams could be heard on this rare item. It also features the voices of all those who were foolish enough to find him and share with him rap canticles about their struggles for survival, against death and madness.

Historians will spot some ancestral characters such as Bones, Yung Simmie, Mr. Sisco, Pepperboy, Dough Dough or Dangla, evoking the ancient cultures of Tennessee, Florida or Alabama. But the hopeful younger generation, now growing up to the sound of this collection of tracks produced by Koursky, has decided to call this musical mess, the "Xenozoic Funk".

"Volume Zero" gather twenty tracks produced by Koursky Lion over the past decade, released for the first time on record. It features most of his traditional collaborators, from Bones to Xavier Wulf, Mr. Sisco and Yung Simmie. In addition to be the French producer's "best of", this record is also a snapshot of an underground scene which let an indelible trace on the years 2010, drawing on antic southern rap to bring to life in Florida, California, under the Bible Bet and even in France, the rap of nowadays.
